In this post, I will show you by example what partial dreadlocks are. I will also explain what blunted and twispy (or “loose”) ends are . . .
Often, my inquiring clients think that “partial dreadlocks” mean that the locks are not dreaded entirely. They assume the locked parts don’t reach all the way to the ends.
No darling. “Partial dreadlocks” describe how much of your hair is turned into dreadlocks. They also show how much is left loose or un-dreaded.
Let me show you…
“Partial dreadlocks” can be one dreadlock. This was done without any human hair dreadlock extensions .

Starting out with some rows
The following images show examples of 2-3 rows of locks. They fit in from the nape of the neck towards the middle of the head. It’s the perfect place to start. You can try this when you are not sure about committing long term with all of your hair volume. Its the perfect world of in-between. Keep it as it is or increase row by row towards a full head if you’d like.
When adding human hair dreadlock extensions, you will need approximately one pack of human hair. This will cover just less than half a head. Of course, it depends on how thick your hair is.

And some more
You can add as many rows as you’d like. You will work your way up as you fall in love with them. Trust me, you will.
By the time we get to three quarters – it looks around about like this . . .

Full head

What ends are concerned
The following image at the bottom left would be a classical example of loose, twispy ends. The other images, of blunted ends.

Most of my people have soft ends instead of blunted ends. A pointer on blunted ends is that it takes some length off.
In case of extensions –
I make sure my clients who book with me for human hair extensions are certain about what they want. Length is something that increases cost. With blunted ends, some of the length would then be lost of course. Therefore, we need to make use of a longer length in human hair. This ensures you can reach the length you’d like your dreadlocks to be once they’re extended.
